How it works

U.S. EMBASSY BELMOPAN   ONLINE AUCTION/AGREEMENT/RULES 

  1. This will be an online auction conducted by U.S. Embassy Belmopan. 
  1. Online bidding will begin on 28 July at 1:00 pm and close on 31 July at 5:00 pm. Bidders are required to register for the online auction using this link. https://online-auction.state.gov/en-US  
  1. Items placed for auction by the U.S. Embassy will be sold on a “NO GUARANTEE”, “AS IS” and “WHERE IS” basis. 
  1. CASH ONLY payments shall be made in Belize Dollars (BZD). No other currency will be accepted. The U.S. Embassy shall not release any items or ownership documents until full payment has cleared. 
  1. Custom duties and all applicable taxes will be paid before items are released. Customs personnel will be on site to value all purchased items. 
  1. Winning bidders will be notified via email on 1 August, 2023. Full payment must be made on 5 August, 2023, at U.S. Embassy Belmopan from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. 
  1. Buyers must pick up their lots at U.S. Embassy Belmopan on 5 August, 2023, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. All items must be removed from the pickup site before 1:00 pm. 
  1. Upon receiving full payment, U.S. Embassy personnel will turn over the purchased items to the new owner.  From that moment onward, all transferred items become the sole responsibility of the bidder. 
  1. Winning bidders who fail to pay for and pick up their lots without notifying the U.S. Embassy will be banned from all Embassy and US Peace Corps auctions for 1 calendar year. Abandoned lots will be awarded to the next highest bidder. 
  1. Those individuals directly involved with auction preparations or who have insider knowledge of specific items may not participate in bidding. 
  1. The U.S. Government reserves the right to reject any bid that does not commensurate with the value of the property, or to reject any bid where there is evidence of connivance, collusion, or bribery.

How to pay for your items

Payment

Successful bidders must pay for their items in cash. All winning bidders must pay in person at the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan on Saturday, August 5th between 8:00am and 1:00pm.  Anyone who does not show up to pay on the required date or does not pay on the required date in full will forfeit the lot, with the lot then being offered to the next-highest bidder.  No late-payment requests will be approved.  Custom duties and all applicable taxes will be paid before items are released. Customs personnel will be on site to value all purchased items.

How to pick-up your items

How to Pickup 

Lots must be picked up on Saturday, August 5th between 8:00am to 1:00pm at the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan.  Kindly present Bill of Sale along with customs receipt to pick up. 

Photographs are not permitted of or on U.S. Embassy Property.  All bidders and those who accompany them on the day of pickup are subject to security screening.
